Five years on from the release of Demon Days, Murdoc and co. return with Plastic Beach. The band have taken up residence, recording on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, a Plastic Beach HQ, made up of the detritus, debris and washed up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet. Plastic Beach is the first Gorillaz album produced entirely by Damon Albarn and features a roster of guest stars including Snoop Dogg, Bobby Womack, Mos Def, Lou Reed, The Clashs Mick Jones and Paul Simonon, The National Orchestra for Arabic Music and many more.
Gorillaz is singer 2D, bassist Murdoc Niccals, guitarist Noodle and drummer Russel Hobbs. Created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, their acclaimed eponymous debut album was released in 2001.
