Hip Holiday Classics on Translucent Red Vinyl Double LP!

First Time Ever on Vinyl!

In celebration of the album's 10th anniversary, Craft Recordings is excited to release the first-ever vinyl pressing of Holidays Rule, a deliciously diverse collection of seasonal music featuring glittering contributions from across the musical spectrum.

Originally released in 2012, the set boasts 17 recordings of timeless holiday classics from artists including pop phenoms fun., the legendary Paul McCartney, indie-pop luminaries The Shins, Americana favorites The Civil Wars, adored singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright (featuring Sharon Van Etten), playful popsters Fruit Bats, bluegrass revisionists Punch Brothers, soul icon Irma Thomas (with The Preservation Hall Jazz Band), cinematic rockers Calexico, eclectic troubadour Andrew Bird, Latin neo-traditionalists Y La Bamba, Texas twang-rock troupe Heartless Bastards, alterna-folk standard-bearer Holly Golightly, roots quintet Black Prairie (featuring Sallie Ford), choral revival collective gesandAges, Fiery Furnaces alumna Eleanor Friedberger and Seattle Americana outfit The Head and the Heart.

Lacquers were cut by Dave Cooley at Elysian Mastering from the original hi-resolution sources mastered by Gavin Lurssen at Lurssen Mastering.

Is it too early to be listening to holiday music? Not in this world it ain't. You don't want to get caught out at your family get together without new wax to spin, do you? A great holiday soundtrack is this 2012 compilation produced by Decemberists guitarist Chris Funk and Sara Matarazzo that has been reissued on festive red vinyl. It's a collection that leans heavily indie and heavily in favor of Funk's fellow Portland artists like The Shins, AgesandAges and Y La Bamba. But surprise gifts abound with appearances by Sir Paul McCartney putting his own spin on 'The Christmas Song,' the great Irma Thomas tearing 'May Ev'ry Day Be Christmas' into tinsel and a splashy opening rendition of 'Sleigh Ride' courtesy of fun. If some of the bass tones on the vinyl run a little hot, as is the case with 'The Man With Bag' as performed by Funk's side project Black Prairie, just tell yourself it's because the master tapes got too close to the chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
