First Volume of Three Very Special Duo Performances on Double LP!
Series Debut Explores the Foundation & Magic of Garcia & Grisman's Studio Masterworks!
In August, 1990, Jerry Garcia and David Grisman got together to play music for the first time in 15 years. At Jerry's suggestion, they decided to make a record and started right away in David's newly built Dawg Studios, the first of over 40 sessions, continuing until a few weeks before Jerry's passing in 1995. Many sessions were just Jerry and David…Bare Bones!
This first volume of duo performances includes seven master takes that were released on Garcia/Grisman, Shady Grove and Been All Around This World. The remaining 12 tracks, mostly from Not for Kids Only, were originally recorded as duos, but were embellished with percussion, fiddle, autoharp, vocal harmonies and yes, even insects, added while Jerry was out touring. They are presented here for the first time, in their original unadorned state.
