Greatly inspired by masters of Hammond B-3 like Richard "Groove" Holmes and Jimmy Smith, the Philadelphia born Jimmy McGriff perfected his own special interpretation of soul organ in this amazing 1972 album. Although technically very tied to the early 60's jazz blues style, he expanded the role of Hammond organ in soul music by revisiting classic and contemporary hits like Isaac Hayes' "Theme From Shaft" or Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" with a never before heard groove that launched a new trend in soul funk dance halls. Suggestion: enjoy it sitting on your leather couch, possibly with good company...
