Joe Chambers has been described as one of the greatest drummers to come out of the '60s. Chambers has contributed to the scene not only as a drummer, but also as composer and arranger since then. He has recorded infrequently as a leader, but he is not one to become stagnant and tries to keep surprising the music world. On this album he plays drums, vibraphone and marimba, and on "Sid's Ahead" and "Afreeka" he stunts on switching in an instant from marimba to drums. Please note that this was all recorded live-to-two-track with no overdubs. Chambers is joined by his old buddy saxophonist Gary Bartz. The tunes vary from standards such as "In a Sentimental Mood" and "Stella by Starlight" to some of Chambers' own compositions.
