Joe Lovano, born in Cleveland, OH in 1952, was raised in a musical household. His father, Tony (aka Big T) played big-toned tenor at night. Big T's brothers Nick, Joe and Carl all made sure Joe was exposed to jazz and the saxophone early on. Before he turned 17 years of age, Joe was working professionally, playing club dates and Motown cover bands.

Double LP includes extra track not available on CD release. This album was recorded analogue direct to tape.
