Vinyl Reissue Series Commemorates 65th Anniversary of Prestige Records and 90th Birthday of Legendary Engineer Rudy Van Gelder!

Prestige Records is proud to reissue the classic Coltrane album Stardust, originally released in 1963. The album actually consists of two separate recording sessions that took place at the studio of the legendary Rudy Van Gelder in 1958. The incredible lineup for these sessions includes, in addition to John Coltrane on tenor sax, Wilbur Harden, Freddie Hubbard, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb, and Arthur Taylor. This reissue is truly a jazz classic that is not to be missed in any collection!

During his final months with Miles Davis' group, John Coltrane participated in a number of recording sessions for Prestige and New Jazz independently of Davis in both leader and side-man roles. This album continues the already extensive series of recordings from that period.

As John Coltrane grew in popularity, and had stopped recording for Prestige, the label began reassembling various Coltrane recordings and reissuing them with his name prominently displayed.

"...Stardust paints a consistently attractive picture of Coltrane's 1958 output." -Alex Henderson, allmusic.com
