Prize-Winning Debut Now On 180g Vinyl!

This remarkable album marked the recording debut of German violinist Julia Fischer as well as the beginning of her extraordinary partnership with Russian-born conductor Yakov Kreizberg, which would result in numerous PENTATONE releases before the conductor’s untimely death in 2011. Together they tackle three Russian violin concertos which have been tragically overlooked, shedding new light on these masterpieces.

The maturity of the repertoire selection and delightful interplay between soloist, conductor and orchestra all contribute to a truly stunning debut album. The violin concertos of Khachaturian, Prokofiev and Glazunov are preserved in timeless beauty, providing a testament to the masterful artistry of Yakov Kreizberg, the Russian National Orchestra and a very precocious Julia Fischer. The multiple prize-winning album is released here for the first time in a highly collectible LP version.

Bravo Julia Fischer!!

Vinyl collectors of western classical music are slightly more hard pressed to find inexpensive vintage New Old Stock (NOS) LPs of violin concertos compared to the fortunate ubiquity of symphonies and piano concertos on LP that can be had for little cost. The are a handful of reissues of great 20th century performances of violin concertos on the Speakers Corner and RCA Living Stereo labels and a few others, but the repertoire is limited primarily to very well-known scores with the exception of the Decca Hindemith / Oistrakh. This contemporary performance of great Russian violin concertos with Julia Fischer is available as a very reasonable 2LP gatefold of three less commonly performed violin concertos. It is truly a godsend. Julia's formidable technique married with her passionate emotional engagement with the scores provides a lyricism in spades which will win over even the most difficult to please critics. Her live performances on Youtube have always been a delight but now these high quality pressings will bring her performance magic directly into your analog listening room. The vinyl surfaces are quiet and the recording very good. The is a very slight loss of SQ at end of groove compared to the very best LP reissues but this is so minor that most ears would never perceive it. Many classical music fans in Asia and North America don't know of her by name yet but Julia is one of the greatest violins alive today. Buy this item with confidence before it is 'discovered' and enjoy some superb violin playing of lesser known concert works!
