Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Rated 101/500!

The debut album from what was to be one of the biggest rock bands ever. Led Zeppelin was originally signed by Ahmet Ertegan to Atlantic based on their blues roots and Jimmy Page's guitar reputation from his Yardbirds days. The first release from 1969 became an instant classic blend of English power riffs and American rock, plus the Chicago blues they were weaned on. Besides Page's virtuoso guitar style, this album introduced the rest of the world to the distinctive banshee wail of vocalist Robert Plant, the late John Bonham's thunderous drumming and the sensitive bass and keyboards of John Paul Jones. It was the launching of a phenomenon.
