The Easiest & Most Accurate Way to Set Your Azimuth!
The Musical Surroundings Fosgate Fozgometer Azimuth Range Meter is a very simple and easy-to-use small portable battery powered unit that is used in conjunction with a Test Record and perfectly aligns your cartridge's azimuth for optimum sound! It measures channel separation, channel balance, and signal direction quickly and accurately.
"Correctly adjusting cartridge azimuth (axial tilt) is the bane of an audiophile's beleaguered eyeballs. However, the Fozgometer, Jim Fosgate's ingenious and fairly priced Azimuth Range Meter, is designed for even the most astigmatic among us. Used in conjunction with the Ultimate Analog Test Disc LP [Analogue Productions APLPTEST ], it diagnoses azimuth irregularities by accurately reading channel separation and channel balance, as well as signal direction. Nicely finished with a large readable meter, it incorporates operating principles similar to Fosgate's own surround-processor logic-steering circuits. Operation is a snap." - Chris Martens, The Absolute Sound, October 2010
Jim Fosgate's passion for analog led him to apply his extensive engineering knowledge, designing an affordable meter to adjust cartridge azimuth (Axial Tilt). The battery operated Fosgate Fozgometer ARM Azimuth Range Meter incorporates operating principals similar to surround processor logic steering circuits, is simple to use, and reads channel separation and channel balance, as well as signal direction.
To obtain high performance from a modern phonograph system, the tonearm and pickup cartridge must be properly adjusted to within a few thousands of an inch. There are several alignment gauges available to adjust overhang and offset. To adjust cartridge azimuth (Axial Tilt), it has been necessary to use lab quality equipment and a test record. Azimuth may be adjusted using an oscilloscope, AC voltmeter, or computer program. These methods can be expensive and time consuming.
The Fosgate Fozgometer Azimuth Range Meter represents a breakthrough for adjusting phono system azimuth. The Fozgometer incorporates a "Log Ratio Detector" developed for surround processor steering logic circuits to measure channel separation over a wide range of signal levels down to -70 dB. The readings are virtually independent of overall signal levels, and can be made with a wide range of input signals without effecting accuracy.
Readings are taken without touching the meter, leaving your hands free to work with the tonearm. The meter reads channel separation in both directions, and channel balance. The LEDs indicate Left, Center, and Right signal (test tone) positions. Simply plug your tonearm cables directly into the Fozgometer and cue up your test record!
The Fosgate Fozgometer works well with the Analogue Productions Ultimate Analogue Test LP or the Hi-Fi News Analogue Test LP: The Producer's Cut or your Test LP with an Azimuth Test Cut.
