180 Gram Double LP! Direct Metal Mastering!
Jazz Legend Sings In Spanish!
This 2LP set from Vinyl Passion collects remastered versions of the two Nat King Cole albums Cole Espanol (1958) and A Mis Amigos (1959) which both showcase the jazz legend singing in Spanish and were originally intended towards his growing international fanbase. Since Cole didn't actually speak the language he learned the song lyrics phonetically.
For Cole Espanol, nine of the eleven tracks were recorded by conductor Armando Romeu, Jr. in Havana, Cuba with Cole adding his vocals later in Hollywood while the remaining two cuts "Cachito" and "Noche de Ronda," were recorded in Hollywood with Hispanic musicians and Dave Cavanaugh. The album climbed to the Top 20 in the U.S. and was a hit internationally.
The success of Cole Espanol then led to the recording and release of A Mis Amigos the following year. This time around Cole recorded the album's twelve songs with Brazilian musicians in Rio de Janeiro on his 1959 South American tour. Due to the added experience of Cole Espanol and the wonderful reception he received from the fans internationally, Cole produced yet another warmly received and highly respected offering.
