A series of Nick Cave albums reissued on vinyl in the years 2014 and 2015 includes this fifth studio album.
Originally released in 1988 on Mute Records, the album was recorded during several sessions over the course of four months in West Berlin and London.
The album opens with Nick Cave's signature song "The Mercy Seat" and contains the song "Deanna" which is loosely based on The Edwin Hawkins' Singers version of the hymn "Oh Happy Day".
