Contemporary Records Acoustic Sounds Series presents this 180-gram LP edition of Ornette Coleman's debut, Something Else!!!!. Originally released in 1958 and recorded by legendary engineer Roy DuNann, the album introduced the world to Coleman's innovative style and features his band of Don Cherry, Walter Norris, Don Payne and Billy Higgins. This new edition features ALL-ANALOG mastering from the original analog tapes by Bernie Grundman and is pressed at QRP and presented in a tip-on jacket.
...the most important thing about Something Else! was that, in its angular, almost totally oppositional way, it swung and still does; like a finger-poppin' daddy on a Saturday night, this record swings from the rafters of the human heart with the most unusually gifted, emotional, and lyrical line since Bill Evans first hit the scene.
The audio on this beautifully produced reissue is really exquisite.
