Featured in Michael Fremer's Heavy Rotation in the March 2006 Issue of Stereophile!
When Milt Jackson met Oscar Peterson, each had already made dozens of albums under his own name. Yet in this summit meeting each selflessly yields the spotlight to showcase the other. Jackson's meeting here with Ray Brown, though, was a reunion: They had both been in Dizzy Gillespie's 1946 band and then were charter members of the Modern Jazz Quartet. This is such a landmark recording that it has led to three sequel albums.
Musicians:
Oscar Peterson, piano
Milt Jackson, piano
Selections:
1. Green Dolphin Street
2. Heartstrings
3. The Work Song
4. John Brown's Body
5. A Wonderful Guy
6. Reunion Blues
