This 1984 recording was the follow-up to Murmur which spawned a plethora of imitators to the R.E.M. 'sound'. Produced by Mitch Easter and Don Dixon, Reckoning is a first rate recording with powerful songs such as So. Central Rain and (Don't Go Back To) Rockville. On this recording, R.E.M. projects a different mood, brightening the sound and bringing the rhythm section forward. Recorded at Reflection Sound in Charlotte, North Carolina, all songs are by Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stripe.
