Paying homage to his musical hero, The Rolling Stones guitarist organized a special show at Wimborne's Tivoli Theatre in 2018. The live show features guest appearances from singer Imelda May and pianist Ben Waters.
The album features Chuck Berry classics such as "Johnny B Goode", "Little Queenie" and "Rock And Roll Music". The Mad Lad album also features the track "Tribute to Chuck Berry" written by Ronnie, and "Worried Life Blues" written by Maceo Merriweather.
"Ronnie Wood and his Wild Five's new Chuck Berry tribute provides a stirring reminder of just how much Berry shaped rock 'n' roll's original blueprint... The set kicks off with Ronnie's self-penned 'Tribute to Chuck Berry,' a two-minute romp that's a salute to the larger-than-life figure... In the final barrage of Berry's classics, from "Little Queenie" to "Johnny B. Goode", Ronnie and his Wild Five squeeze all the swagger and verve you could want from these standards. - Greg Gaston, The Absolute Sound, February 2020
