Ever-prolific singer/songwriter Ryan Adams has three releases on tap this year (2005), the first released in May via Lost Highway. The 19-song, double-disc "Cold Roses" is credited to Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, consisting of guitarists J.P. Bowersock and Cindy Cashdollar, drummer Brad Pemberton and bassist Catherine Popper. Rachael Yamagata guests on "Cold Roses" and "Let It Ride."

"Cold Roses" follow-up is "Jacksonville City Nights," and in the fall (2005) by the set "29," produced by longtime collaborator Ethan Johns.

Adams' output has reportedly been the subject of much discussion at Lost Highway; although its veracity could not be confirmed at deadline, a humorous conversation between the artist and two label executives about how to manage all these releases is posted on Adams' official Web site.

Among the 15 tracks in the collection is a duet with Norah Jones, "Dear John".

The 2nd release from Ryan Adams & the Cardinals this year (2005), this album was produced by Tom Schick. All 15 tracks were written and recorded by Ryan Adams & the Cardinals. This album incorporates some of the finest ingredients of traditional country music, featuring "Dear John", a haunting duet with Norah Jones. Other highlights include: "The Hardest Part", "A Kiss Before I Go" and "Hard Way To Fall".

2005 saw Adams join with backing band The Cardinals to produce two albums, Cold Roses and Jacksonville City Nights. Cold Roses, a double album, included backing vocals from Rachael Yamagata on three songs; "Let It Ride," "Cold Roses" and "Friends." His second album of the year, Jacksonville City Nights, featured a duet with Norah Jones on "Dear John." As well as releasing two albums with The Cardinals, Adams released the solo album 29 late in the year. Adams befriended Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, throughout 2006 Lesh's live performances included compositions by Adams, including several from Cold Roses ("Cold Roses," "Let It Ride," and "Magnolia Mountain"), which was heavily influenced by American Beauty and Workingman's Dead, two acoustic-flavored Grateful Dead records from 1970. Three Albums and 46 songs in one year!
