After two highly acclaimed self-released albums in 2010, Shelby Lynne is not content to sit back and take time off. Following a year on the road, the fiercely independent musician went back to the studio work to work on a her next album writing, recording and producing the collection herself. Entitled Revelation Road, it is her most personal album ever. It is released by the independent label she founded, EVERSO Records, which is distributed by Fontana.
I just wanted to do something that was so damn real, says Lynne. The heartbeat of the song has to come through.
Shelby Lynne makes you woozy, and you cant help it. We prefer to think of her as indie as heck, as resolutely so as the band hiding away in the basement, making music it loves away from the prying eyes of The Man. The forearms have sinew, the voice is backed by steel and Lynne is in full control. Of everything, said the Chicago Tribune.
Try to find a female vocalist with a more heart-worn and affecting voice; I dare you, said Oxford American editors, placing Lynne at #3 on their list of the Top 15 Contemporary Alabama acts.
Tears, Lies And Alibis, Lynnes first release on EVERSO Records, debuted at No. 16 on Billboards Top Independent Albums chart in April 2010 and became a Top 10 hit at Americana radio. People Magazine awarded it 3 ½ stars while Newsday gave it an A-, noting: Shelby Lynne can do it all, and she proves it on Tears, Lies and Alibis...her strongest album in a decade.
