Trumpeter Blue Mitchell had a soulful, swinging style and was equally at home in jazz, R&B and funk settings. This 1965 date featured his Horace Silver bandmates Junior Cook (tenor sax) and Gene Taylor (bass), along with a 24- year-old Chick Corea (piano) and 22-year-old Al Foster (drums.) Blue Note Tone Poet Series is produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.
