In 1992 The Cure released Wish, a richly diverse multi-faceted guitar-driven album hailed by some as their best work to date. It spawned three fabulous hit singles, and the glorious 'Wish Tour' that followed was a worldwide sell-out. The sheer power of the shows inspired the release of two live works in 1993, the album and concert cinema film Show and the more fan-oriented Paris album.

The Cure's 30th anniversary re-issue of Paris has now been expanded with the addition of two previously unreleased live tracks, "Shake Dog Shake" and "Hot Hot Hot!!!" The Paris 2LP Live set was recorded at Le Zenith de Paris in October 1992 and released in October 1993.

Includes the singles "Lovesong," "Catch," "A Letter to Elise," "Charlotte Sometimes," "Close to Me" and fan favorite "Play for Today." Remastered by Robert Smith and Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, London.

Show featured mostly hit singles; Paris features the songs that built their cult, including 'Close to Me' and 'Letter to Elise.' Consequently, most fans will find this the more interesting of the two live albums, and, out of the two records, it is the more consistent and satisfying.

Paris goes from one melodic strength to another while keeping firmly within the shadowy outlines that the band mapped out for themselves over forty years ago. And while a fair amount of their live career is in fact documented unofficially, vinyl hunters who prefer sanctioned records like this one would have to stretch up into three figures to slide an original into their Kallax units. This reissue then is a must for the devoted or for anyone who wants a sense of just how great they could sound at what some may consider to be Everest peak of their career.
