4AD releases remastered editions of nine titles in the Dead Can Dance catalogue.
These albums (and EP) have been remastered by MFSL (Mobile Fidelity Sound Laboratory), one of the most respected audiophile labels in the USA. They are in the hybrid stereo SACD format.
The SACD's are packaged in Japanese paper sleeves which replicate the original UK vinyl releases, including replica original inner sleeves and new additional booklets with lyrics, album labels and other images
On their eponymous debut album, Dead Can Dance, originally released in February 1982, they successfully harnessed a bewitching barrage of sounds, layering grinding guitars and even a dulcimer-like yang chin over a taut wash of percussion. If the range of the group is staggering, then so too is their disciplined economy, no song lasting more than four minutes or degenerating into formless cacophony. With the five group members continually interchanging instruments, only the vocals of Lisa and Brendan remain as a constant focus.
