Mutations is the second album to be released in 2009 by The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble. An act combining profound musical sensibilities, deeply emotional harmonies and an acute ear for genre inter-breeding, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble placed itself amid the confluent of dusty, gritty jazz and low-end doom-laden drones, and came up with a sound which is at the same time warm and dark, brooding and misty, cinematic and dynamic.

Together with Bohren und der Club of Gore and The Dale Cooper Quartet, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble have succeeded in creating a brand new genre of music. The 8 pieces (40 minutes) of Mutations are the perfect connecting link between the ensemble's self-titled debut album from 2006 and their second full length, Here Be Dragons (2009). Time to get absorbed again by this unique and fresh sound.
