This 1969 release was the Moody's third title to achieve gold status in just two years, joining 1968 releases Days Of Future Passed and In Search Of The Lost Chord. In keeping with the group's pop-mystic image, On The Threshold Of A Dream is a transcendental science-fiction concept album, featuring the tour-de-force single The Dream and the surrounding Have You Heard?

The Moody Blues were among the first bands of the '60s to create rock albums with classical influences, driven by lush orchestrations and multi-layered guitars that broadened the spectrum of rock sounds. Members Mike Pindler, Justin Hayward, Ray Thomas, Graeme Edge and John Lodge each displayed a wide variety of musical talents, and, along with producer Tony Clarke (who was considered an integral member of the group) incorporated a plethora of instruments into their musical creations. The booklet of this Ultradisc II=81 version restores all liner notes, artwork and lyrics from the original LP gatefold jacket and lyric insert.
