The Smithereens presents a Christmas 45 that is more thoughtful and intriguing than the average tossed-together holiday offering. Harking back to the days when bands would make and release Christmas albums and songs without any trace of irony, this Smithereens release captures the spirit of a "rock and roll" holiday disc. The original composition "Christmas Morning" will remind you of the best moments of a Smithereens song. This quartet does an impressive job of channeling the spirit of 1960s rock. The B-side, "Twas The Night Before Christmas" adds a nice twist to an otherwise familiar record.
