This remarkable CD, which big band buffs cannot afford to be without, was recorded in Helsinki at the beginning of 2000. It owes its existence to the 70th birthday of the Canadian trumpeter, cornettist, bugle player and composer Kenny Wheeler and to the UMOs 25th anniversary.

You can hear brand-new pieces by Kenny Wheeler, who also plays solo, vocals by Norma Winstone and several star soloists who have plenty of chance to shine alongside the band.

Today the UMO is acknowledged as one of the leading big bands in Europe, and the outfit has made a great contribution to the promotion of Finnish music both at home and abroad. The UMO members represent the cream of the country's jazz musicians and the orchestra provides upcoming Finnish artists with a permanent hands-on academy for jazz and light music. UMO has also made numerous successful concert tours, with visits to the U.S., Canada and European countries.
