Jazz pianist & composer Thelonious Monk with saxophonist Sonny Rollins released this self-titled album in 1954 on the Prestige label as #7075. The album is culled from three sessions over a span of nearly 12 months featuring different personnel. This was Monk's final album with Prestige before moving to Riverside Records.

"...[A]n all-star cast headed up by Thelonious Monk (piano)...includes some collaborative efforts with Sonny Rollins (tenor sax) that go beyond simply inspired and into a realm of musical telepathy." - Lindsay Planer,
