1995 Solo Album on Double LP!
Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore's 1995 solo album, Psychic Hearts, is available again in a deluxe double LP vinyl edition on the band's own Goofin' label. In addition to Moore on guitar, bass, and vocals, the album features guitarist Tim Foljahn (Two Dollar Guitar) and Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley on drums. For this release, the fourth side contains bonus tracks. Bonus material is from the Geffen promo 7", the Road Cone 7", and the Male Slut 7" on Stomach Ache!
What is surprising about Psychic Hearts is how Moore twists his standard lexicon of detached vocals, dissonant guitar lines, and deliberately obscure musical/lyrical references into something resembling pop music, which is something Sonic Youth has rarely been able to achieve....Psychic Hearts displays a softer, more reflective side of a musician known for his passion for disguising his emotions and ideas in noise.
