The Transfiguration Axia is the new entry model in the Transfiguration range, replacing the much acclaimed Aria, and shares many of the features and much of the sound quality of its higher priced stablemates.

Like all Transfiguration designs, the Axia incorporates an ultra-tight magnet coil coupling. The coils aren't merely close; they're literally inside the ring magnet, with coil-magnetic proximity of only a few thousandths of an inch. With dynamic mass minimised and coil saturation eliminated, Transfiguration cartridges maintain extremely fast and accurate response to groove movements.

"This is a very vivid and explict sounding cartridge, majoring on information... I compared the Axia to Transfiguration's Spirit 3 MC and found surprisingly little difference in the overall sound. Whereas the Spirit had a touch more openness, the Axia was marginally smoother on guitar or violin." - Hi-Fi World

"The Axia's parts are of high quality. It's motor's coils operate within a double-ring magnet, which results in tight magnetic coupling and reduces mass. Attached to the coils is a 0.3mm diameter boron cantilever, to which is affixed an Ogura PA 3x 30um diamond stylus, a model used by a number of other cartridge manufacturers as well as in the Orpheus L, Transfiguration’s most expensive cartridge ($7000)." - Michael Fremer, Stereophile Magazine, May 2011
