Aerosmith's 8th studio album, released in 1985, saw the return of Joe Perry, who left the group in 1979, and Brad Whitford, who had left in 1981.
After this album, the group thought they were done...until hip-hop saved them. Yes...hip-hop. Their 1986 collaboration with Run-D.M.C. on the remake of their classic song "Walk This Way" resurrected the group's career and gave them a jump-start which lead to the 1987 release of "Permanent Vacation".
