Limited Edition 180g Vinyl! Only 500 Copies!

Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Alexi Murdoch releases his second album "Towards the Sun" following his 2006 breakout release "Time Without Consequence". Murdoch's debut established him as a Top Ten Artist to Watch in Rolling Stone, gained him five stars from Alternative Press, and was hailed as "A timeless folk-pop record that's likely to endure' by NPR Music.

Basic tracks for Towards the Sun were recorded in a single night in Vancouver while on tour in North America in 2009. Revisting the material months later in New York, Alexi fleshed the songs out with the help of Jon Natchez and Kelly Pratt (Beirut) and Kyle Resnick (The National).

Now available on 180g Vinyl in a limited run of 500 copies for the U.S.

"Just as the pastoral setting of the Big Pink house gave Bob Dylan and The Band’s Basement Tapes an organic nonchalance, the on-the-road recording of Murdoch’s newest album imbues it with intimacy and longing... Piano keys walk with Murdoch's rhythmic picking, his vocals rise and fall like mid-Atlantic hills. It has the distinct feel of a band warming up, a welcoming invitation to a one-night stand. It's the addition of the band that lends this album its markedly fuller sound. Pratt and Resnick's horns provide an underlying echo that shadows the stories of unable to be requited love and familial loss spread across the first four tracks..." - Jeff Gonick, Pastemagazine.com

"The most alluring and fully realized collection of songs (Murdoch has) crafted so far... spare and intimate, but also expansive in their warmth and beauty." - NPR Music

"9 out of 10" - Popmatters.com

"The extreme quiet of acoustic singer songwriter Alexi Murdoch’s new record suggests... holy silence. Compared to Murdoch, Sufjan Stevens is a shouter and Arvo Part’s Estonian snowscapes resemble Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture”—and Murdoch’s music recalls both Stevens and Part in its self-conscious spirituality. " - Steve Horowitz, popmatters.com
