Sun Ship's theme as sketched out by Coltrane, is a sharp edged, four-note fragment from an augmented scale that he rephrases and repeats. A collaboration of master musicians, expanding and experimenting, it was all part of the ability of the quartet to follow Coltrane's musical explorations. Sun Ship , like so much of John's work, stretches and probes the furthest boundaries of the jazz idiom. Digitally remastered, it stands as a testimony to the genius that was and still is ... John Coltrane.

One of the last studio recordings of the "Classic John Coltrane Quartet."

"Classic recordings by the Classic John Coltrane Quartet, an unforgettable, forever-fresh, essential part of the art of jazz." - David A. Wild
