Sound Of White Noise was released in May 1993 for Elektra Records. It was the last album to feature lead guitarist Dan Spitz, as well as the first album to include vocalist John Bush. Produced by Dave Jerden, the album was noted for its surprisingly melodic character and grunge influences.
Notable tracks include the single "Only" (regarded by Metallica frontman James Hetfield as a "perfect song"), "Black Lodge" (inspired by Twin Peaks and featuring Angelo Bardalamenti) and "Room For One More."
The album was Anthrax's highest-charting record, reaching #7 on the Billboard 200 charts.
