The way Lester Young used to interact with Billie Holiday's deep melodies was outstanding, and after almost a century the whole atmosphere of their music is still totally unique. These sessions held in New York between 1937 and 1938, featuring heavyweights such as Benny Goodman, Teddy Wilson and the Count Basie rhythm section, Freddie Green, Walter Page, and Papa Jo Jones, are one of the greatest treasures in American music, period.
