180g Audiophile Vinyl Mastered by Friday Music's Joe Reagoso & Kevin Gray From Original Atlantic Records Tapes!

As a young teenager growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, Booker T. Jones had the amazing talent to play a number of instruments... and he played them well. Mastering them well enough to land him work at the famous Stax Records label as a sideman, while still attending high school! It was during this time he met up with future guitar legend Steve Cropper and drummer great Al Jackson and later formed the Stax wrecking crew known as Booker T. & The M.G.’s.

This amazing quartet, whom later added the amazing Donald “Duck” Dunn on bass went on to record a treasure trove of funk, soul and rock masterpieces, which have gone on to become some of the greatest sides ever waxed in modern soul history!

With chart topping soul rockers like Green Onions, Red Beans And Rice and Hip Hug-Her, the good folks at Atlantic honored this famed quartet with their own greatest hits album, the magnificent The Best Of Booker T. & The M.G.’s in 1968. This original album has been out of print for many years, and for several decades in the vinyl format... that is until now.

Friday Music is proud to offer the original Atlantic Records masterpiece The Best Of Booker T. & The M.G.’s for the first time on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl. Mastered impeccably from the original Atlantic Records tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios with Kevin Gray.

This best of album features all of their original hit recordings mentioned above, as well as more killer funk like Mo’ Onions, Slim Jenkins’ Place and Soul Dressing! Plus, super soul interpretations of The Rascals’ Groovin’ and George Gershwin’s Summertime.

Also included is the original rare album cover elements featuring the hip Baron Wolman/Rolling Stone photo and the excellent packaging design of Haig Adishian.

This is one collection made for the audiophile vinyl domain and will be a perfect companion to our previous Atlantic Records soul offerings from Wilson Pickett—The Best Of Wilson Pickett and Solomon Burke—The Best Of Solomon Burke. The Best Of Booker T. & The M.G.’s... from your friends at Friday Music... Soul on!
