Newly Remastered for Blue Note 75th Anniversary Vinyl!

American hard bop trombonist Curtis Fuller recorded "The Opener" for Blue Note records in 1957. This was his first album for the label. The album features Hank Mobley on the tenor sax, Bobby Timmons on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Art Taylor on drums.

Newly-remastered for vinyl as part of an overall Blue Note 75th anniversary vinyl reissue campaign spearheaded by current Blue Note Records President, Don Was.

"...a thoroughly impressive affair...The six songs give Fuller a chance to display his warm, fluid style in all of its variations...His backing musicians are equally impressive...establishes Fuller as one of the most distinctive and original hard bop trombonists of the late '50s." -Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic.com
