Grammy Nominated Band's 9th Studio Album On 180g Vinyl LP!
Featuring "Gold Rush", "I Dreamt We Spoke Again", "Northern Lights" & "When We Drive"!

Thank You For Today was produced and mixed by Rich Costey (Fiona Apple, Franz Ferdinand, Muse), who also produced the band's last album, the GRAMMY® nominated KINTSUGI. Thank You For Today marks the first Death Cab for Cutie release to see long time bandmates Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, and Jason McGerr joined in the studio by new members Dave Depper (Menomena, Fruit Bats, Corin Tucker, Ray Lamontagne) and Zac Rae (My Brightest Diamond, Fiona Apple, Lana Del Rey, Gnarls Barkley). Depper and Rae have both been part of Death Cab's touring band since 2015.

From the band's website:

In October of last year, we found ourselves in Santa Monica, in the new studio that our friend Rich Costey had just opened. We had a batch of some of Ben's most beautiful songs, some new blood in our ranks, and the air crackled with optimism.

Beginning an album is always a time of many unknowns and seemingly endless possibilities, and what followed was many weeks of relentless experimentation. Building things up only to tear them down to the foundation. Refusing to settle for sounds that rang too familiar. Songs that at one point seemed like the backbone of the record were cast aside, while others took much longer to reveal the subtle qualities that made them essential additions to the final running order.

In the end, we emerged with an album that we dearly love and stand proudly behind. It was important for us to create something that served as a touchstone to our past while simultaneously looked to future of all the places we can and will go. It is one of our most diverse records, and it is full of heart.

Today, we are delighted to share the video for the first of these songs, "Gold Rush", with you. We write this on the cusp of playing our first show in over nine months, having completed weeks full of the fun and challenging task of rehearsing and translating these new tunes to pieces of music that can stand tall next to the rest of the songs in our catalog. It's been too long, and we can't wait to get out there and see all of you again.

Thank you for the opportunity to keep doing what we do. Thank you for still showing up for us after all this time. Thank you for going through new phases of life as we do the same alongside you. Thank you for sharing your hearts with us, be they beating brightly or broken. Thank you for being part of the light, even when things seem the darkest. Thank you for today.
