180g Light Blue Virgin Vinyl Reissue of 1963 Soundtrack!

When a motion picture is destined for immortality, as is The Great Escape, there are always separate parts that contribute to the impact of the whol.e One of these important parts is usually the score, and especially when it's composed and conducted by Elmer Bernstein.

Film and record fans will long remember the vivid musical flavor he brought to "Walk On The Wild Side" and it's not at all surprising that he has surpassed himself on this one. To complement the story of an Allied prisoners-or-war breakout from a Nazi compound, Bernstein has filled the soundtrack with themese of such expressive quality and dramatic intensity that not only does it help the flow of the film but it also stands alone as a potent musical entity within itself. His stirring marching theme has already been favorably compared with "The Bridge On The River Kwai" and everyone knows what happened there.
