Following the success of Grigory Sokolov's latest album, the complete recording is now available as a 3LP vinyl set. This sensational live recording for Deutsche Grammophon was made at a historic venue: the legendary pianist recorded three Haydn sonatas, the Schubert Impromptus D 935 and a generous selection of encores in the spectacular Haydn Hall of Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt, where Joseph Haydn lived and worked for some three decades.

The recording of his Eisenstadt recital has once again become a genuine Sokolov release, in which the hall atmosphere has been captured just as vividly as the actual musical events on the podium. As clearly as the pianist chisels every phrase, every note out of the musical text, you also think you can see the drops of sweat beading down from his forehead.
