Tracking Angle Rated 10/10 Music, 10/10 Sound!
Originally released in 1973, Virtuoso is the 10th album from jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and widely considered his best. Featuring the Pass original "Blues for Alican" along with standards including "'Round Midnight," the album features Pass playing solo throughout.
This new edition of the album is released as part of the Original Jazz Classics Series and is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI with all-analog mastering from the original tapes at Cohearent Audio and presented in Stoughton Tip-On Jacket.
Virtuoso rewards full immersion and repeat listenings in a way that only the best albums can afford. So, if you are even remotely considering adding this pressing of Virtuoso to your collection, do not hesitate. The playing on Virtuoso is truly gymnastic and yet Joe delivers a visceral, human performance on a mix of traditional and original material. Kevin Gray's fat, uncompressed cut is an ideal way to experience this album. Even simply judged by sonics, this recording is a work of art.
