The Most Influential British Blues Album Of All Time!
180g Vinyl From Pristine U.K. Mono Masters!
1966s seminal Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton marked John Mayalls emergence as a major recording artist, as well as his commercial breakthrough. The 12-song LP, considered by many to be the most influential British blues album of all time, marked the official introduction of Mayalls long-running, ever-evolving combo the Bluesbreakers. Mayall shares the spotlight here with soon-to-be-superstar guitarist Eric Clapton (who quit the Yardbirds in order to pursue his blues muse with Mayall), along with future Fleetwood Mac co-founder John McVie on bass and Hughie Flint on drums. Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton is generally acknowledged as a musical milestone for Clapton; his scorching playing and over-the-top tone dominates the entire album. With the groups punchy performances captured in straightforward style by noted producer Mike Vernon, the album offers a potent combination of Mayall originals and distinctive interpretations of songs by Ray Charles, Freddie King, Little Walter and Otis Rush.
Before Clapton was "God," he split from the Yardbirds to pursue his muse with British blues scene monarch John Mayall. The resulting sessions produced this powerhouse 1966 LP, a seminal recording in the electric blues canon. A major milestone for both artists, it saw Mayall emerge as a preeminent recording artist while adding a significant chapter to the already burgeoning Clapton legend.
Sourced from the magnificent-sounding, original U.K. mono masters, this classic LP is pressed on 180 gram vinyl and includes the complete original cover art. Mono Edition.
"I applaud Sundazed's decision to reissue John Mayalls Blues Breakers using the much sought after mono mix. At $19 for the LP and $15 for the CD, these are unquestionably comparative bargains. Collectors and rabid audiophiles will undoubtedly continue to hunt down the more expensive out-of-print mono masterings of this watershed album, but thankfully Sundazed has provided us with these vinyl and CD alternatives." - Michael Fremer, www.musicangle.com, Music 10/10, Sound 6/10
