Here is another collection of wisdom, humor and pathos by the productive Mr. Hopkins, and it is not surprising that nine of the ten selections contained herein are his own compositions. As a matter of fact, it is reasonable to assume that a great deal of the composing took place during the actual performance in the studio. That this is really the blues. As Lonnie Johnson (another prolific blues composer/performer) once said, "You can't just sing the blues, you've got to feel the blues."

Lightnin's performances seem to epitomize the truth of that statement.
