Louis Armstrong's Masters Of Jazz is Louie as a natural entertainer. Along with a variety of well-known favorites, Louie offers rare, in-between song chatter to amuse and entertain his audience. Some of these songs were Billboard hits for Louie: Mack The Knife (#20 ) and Blueberry Hill (#29). High Society Calypso recalls Louie's appearance in the 1956 movie High Society. And the indispensable classic When The Saints is especially joyful and spirited.

This Masters Of Jazz title was recorded in Chicago in 1962 and released on Denmark's Storyville Records in 1984. Included in Louie's All Star band are: Trummy Young (tb), Joe Darensbourg (cl), Billy Kyle (p), Billy Cronk (b), Danny Barcelona (dr), and Louis Armstrong (tp, vo). Mobile Fidelity chose to release Masters Of Jazz Vol. 1 not for its sonic capabilities but rather for the pure historic nature of the recording.

No Louis Armstrong fan should be without this collection showcasing all the facets of Louis Armstrong's talents as a consummate entertainer with enormous vitality and an extremely gifted musician. Mobile Fidelity has included three bonus tracks to this Louis Armstrong release.
