20th Anniversary 180g Double LP!
Roots Rockers' Debut Album Pressed On Vinyl For The First Time!
Lucero's debut album pressed for the first time ever on vinyl, in honor of the 20th anniversary of its release.
The self-titled album was released in 2001 and includes such popular tracks as "My Best Girl", "Raising Hell", "Drink 'Til We're Gone" and "All Sewn Up".
Like the great river that flows through Memphis, Tennessee, the music of Lucero keeps rolling on, twisting and turning through the years, the same dark and brooding steadiness always at work.
Since forming in late the '90s, this group of Memphis road-dogs has mixed heartfelt lyrics with the sounds of early rock and roll, classic punk, country-folk, and deep-fried Southern soul. It's a sound that stands on the pillars of American music, born more of feeling than technique, delivered night after night to legions of fans in dive bars and theaters, and on stages as august as Red Rocks Amphitheater and the Ryman. In short, it's music that is built to last, impervious to trends.
Like North Mississippi Allstars, Memphis-based Lucero successfully combines punk-rock and geographic roots with an authenticity few other bands are able to manage.
Lucero's music has been described as country punk with raw grit, grating vocals, and edgy punk textures mingled with lap steel, accordion, mandolin, and violin seedlings. They have been aligned with Ryan Adams, Marc Bolan, the North Mississippi Allstars, and Hank Williams Jr.. They make bluegrass with a brazen approach as if the templates of the genre formatted by Ricky Skaggs and Patty Loveless don't apply to them.
As much as they derive their sound from classic and Southern rock, Lucero also borrow from indie and punk sources like Pixies and The Replacements, taking pop noise from one and pop romanticism from the other.
