Lovett's third album, originally released in 1989, reached number 10 on Billboard's chart for Top Country Albums and 62 in the Billboard Hot 200. The album includes the cover of Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man', which was later included in the soundtrack for the 1993 movie The Crying Game.

Lyle Lovett has a propensity to lean toward the bluesier side of country and it shows on this album with songs like "Here I Am", "Cryin' Shame", and "Good Intentions".
