Maxwell's 4th studio album was released in 2009 and was titled BLACKsummer's night. The album earned him two Grammy Awards at the 52nd Grammy Awards. This 2016 released sequel, blackSUMMERS'night has also won a Grammy for the song "Lake By the Ocean" which won the Grammy for Best R&B Song.
