Vinyl LP Features Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Max Roach, and More!

Miles Davis in his first sessions as leader is backed by Charlie Parker, Max Roach, John Lewis, and more. This album compiles tracks from two sessions recorded April 24, 1945 and August 14, 1947. Davis had recorded several sessions as a member of Charlie Parker's band for the Savoy and Dial labels by 1947.

"Side A of the Miles Davis reissue documents his very first recordings in New York as a shy, nervous tentative 18-year-old trumpeter backing the singer-comedian Rubberlegs WIlliams on three takes of "That's The Stuff You Gotta Watch," "Pointless Mama Blues," "Deep Sea Blues," and three takes of "Bring It On Home." Mile's input here is negligible...Fast forward two years and Miles is back in the studio [documented on Side B], this time the leader of an all-star band...Here we hear a confident, swinging Miles..." - Bill Milkowski, The Absolute Sound, 3.5/5, Music, 4/5 Sonics.
