2020 Grammy Award Nominee:
• Best American Roots Song: "Crossing To Jersalem"

Dreams still beckon in a damaged world, and Rosanne Cash renders them with fierce grace on She Remembers Everything. The follow-up to Cash's 2014 release The River & the Thread, recipient of 3 Grammys including Best Americana Album, the album offers shimmering pop—with hints of twang and jazz—that could find a home in almost any year of postwar American music. But the luminescence and bright production are shot through with a darker vision, trenchant vocals, minor chords, and bent notes that destabilize the landscape. Familiar yet alien, Cash's take on being a woman in the world reveals just how much has gone awry.

Closing out the four decades Cash has spent as a recording artist, She Remembers Everything contains echoes of nearly all her previous styles. Listeners familiar with "Seven Year Ache" or Interiors will recognize the knowing ache of this record. Those who listened to recordings and live shows in subsequent years—which have included residencies at the San Francisco Jazz Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Library of Congress—will likewise find the literary voice that has framed her more recent music. Cash's time focused on roots music also lends a classic form to her songwriting that makes it universal and timeless.

The Memory Box contains personal letters of correspondence signed by Rosanne, and exchanged between her and T-Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, Sam Phillips, Joe Henry, Tucker Martine, and John Leventhal; an exclusive Rosanne Cash Live at SFJAZZ CD, recorded in 2017 and featuring Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams; She Remembers Everything pressed to pink vinyl; the deluxe casebound CD with three extra tracks; and a digital download redemption card. The box also includes a copy of 'Bird On A Blade' (UT Press), a new book of lyrics and illustration by Rosanne Cash and Dan Rizzie, along with an 8" x 10" printed lithograph featuring an original Rizzie illustration from the book.

Bird On A Blade is comprised of fifty pairings of lyrics by Rosanne Cash and images by acclaimed artist Dan Rizzie that speak to the experiences of love and loss, fear and faith, and the everyday hope that propels our lives.

"She Remembers Everything is a rich and satisfying banquet. There's nothing rough and ready – the songs have been carefully sequenced. Nothing palls, and the array of musical textures is beguiling, each song perfectly framed. The title track opens with Cash's voice in its lower register, suspended over a piano motif which recurs and is picked up by the guitar as the song builds, Sam Phillips's vocal harmony tracking Cash's own. Then it all falls away, a single cello line intertwining delicately with piano and guitar. Familiar to viewers of HBO's True Detective for which the song was written, 'My Least Favorite Life' closes the album. There's nothing pared down about this version, which is lavishly scored and in which, after a pause, a string quartet has the last word. It's addictive." - The Arts Desk

"If you follow Rosanne Cash on social media, you know how passionately she speaks about our turbulent world. Her latest album, She Remembers Everything, brings us her most topical songwriting to date. Social concerns are built into her lyrics and compassion is at the forefront of her voice. The album's title track, co-written and sung with Sam Phillips, describes a woman who's been broken by the times, exhausted and dazed, but is still aware and still singing her truth. Her sharp memory holds both a weariness and a threat; mirroring that, the song's gentle melody is bolstered by an undercurrent of dark bass guitar." - NPR Heavy Rotation: 10 Songs Public Radio Can't Stop Playing

"On She Remembers Everything, Cash explores rage, regret, long term love, feminism and memory in ways that are detailed enough to feel like they're coming from her core — and generous enough to let us hear our own hearts and souls in the sounds." - NPR World Cafe
