SHM-SACD (Super High Material SACD) is the ultimate Super Audio CD that utilizes the materials and technologies that were developed for the SHM-CD to further enhance the audio-resolution. These discs are made with polycarbonate developed for the screen of the liquid crystal display. As it has a higher transparency, players can read the signal more faithfully. Also, it excels in fluidity, which enables you to cast a more accurate pit. What works wonders for a low resolution format such as CD should offer even greater sonic improvements in a real high resolution format such as SACD.

Fischer-Dieskau was ranked the second greatest singer of the century (after Jussi Björling) by Classic CD (United Kingdom) "Top Singers of the Century" Critics' Poll (June 1999). The French dubbed him "Le miracle Fischer-Dieskau" and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf called him "a born god who has it all."

Fischer-Dieskau recorded the six Heine songs of Schwanengesang early in his career (HMV mono ALP1066, 10/53nla) and he also recorded the complete group for EMI in the early sixties (HMV ASD544, 9/63 nla) and later for DG in the seventies, always with Gerald Moore.

Pianist Gerald Moore accompanies baritone Fischer-Dieskau for this recoring of Schubert's song cycle Schwanengesang.
