DTS 5.1 Surround Sound!
Igor Stravinsky Firebird Suite (1919) & Maurice Ravel Bolero performed by The "George Enescu" Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Cristian Mandeal.
In the summer of 2001, AIX Records Founder and Chief Engineer Mark Waldrep, Ph.D. traveled to Bucharest, Romania with nine road cases of state-of-the art, high-resolution audio equipment to record the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra. The intention was to capture first class performances of familiar classical repertoire using his unorthodox method of recording...that of using many stereo pairs of mics and high-resolution recording equipment. This DVD-Audio disc is among the first five releases from those recording sessions. The tracks were recorded live without an audience in the Atheneum in downtown Bucharest, Romanian.
"Stravinsky/Ravel. I got this disc from AIX last week. Oh My! I don't even know where to begin. I have almost a 50 year history with these two pieces and I have never heard them presented this beautifully. This sets new landmarks for me in believability. Just close your eyes and listen into the soundstage; 5.1 has never been done better IMO. If you want a reference/demo disk, this is one you will keep near the top of your stack." - Jerrich Senior Editior/HomeTheaterSpot.com
