The 1984 action comedy film stars Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, a Detroit cop who heads to Beverly Hills to solve the murder of his friend. Supporting characters are portrayed by Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Ronny Cox, and Lisa Eilbacher.

The soundtrack contains music by artists Patti LaBelle, The Pointer Sisters, Glenn Frey, Danny Elfman and more. The album hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1985 and won a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. The instrumental title tune, "Axel F", has become a cultural touchstone.
